📖 How to Play — Hard Mode
  1. This is the bounty-capped challenge: your crew's combined bounty must stay under ฿16 billion.
  2. Spin and recruit a "Wanted" pirate into an open role — but only if you can afford their bounty. Pirates you can't afford are greyed out.
  3. The strongest legends cost billions, so hunt for value: rookies and pre-timeskip Straw Hats are powerful but dirt cheap.
  4. You get 3 Skips to re-roll an era with nothing you want. Each pick auto-spins to the next role.
  5. Pair a Captain & First Mate from the same crew for a big duo bonus, and stack a faction for synergy — on a budget.
  6. Fill all 10 roles under the cap to reveal your Crew Rating / 1000. Reaching 👑 King of the Pirates here is brutally rare — can you do it?
SPIN THE SHIP'S WHEEL to sail to a random arc, then recruit a "WANTED" pirate into an open role — if you can afford their bounty.

Keep your crew under the ฿16B cap. The biggest names cost billions — hunt for cheap, powerful bargains like pre-timeskip legends!

Build the One Piece Crew of Your Dreams — On a Budget

Hard Mode is the bounty-capped version of Grand Line Spin, and it's a completely different kind of challenge. The crew, the spin, and the scoring are the same — but now every pirate has a price on their head, and your whole crew's combined bounty has to stay under a ฿16 billion cap. Since the strongest legends in the world carry billion-berry bounties, you simply can't afford a roster of Yonko and Admirals. You have to build smart: a couple of superstars propped up by cheap, efficient role-players. It's a salary-cap puzzle wearing a pirate hat.

How the Bounty Cap Works

Every "Wanted" card shows a recruitment cost in berries. Where a character has a canon bounty we use it directly; for the many fighters without a public bounty, we price them fairly by their power so no one is free. As you draft, a budget bar tracks what you've spent and what's left, and anyone you can't afford for an open role is greyed out. Overspend early and you'll be cornered — forced to fill your remaining roles with whatever scraps you can still afford, or set sail short-handed.

The Secret: Hunt for Bargains

This is where the mode gets fun. Because bounties are era-accurate, a character's price reflects when they made their name — not how strong they actually are. That creates genuine steals:

Meanwhile the post-timeskip versions of those same characters cost ten to a hundred times more. A savvy captain fields the bargain versions, banks the savings, and spends it where it counts — on one marquee name and a same-crew Captain–First Mate duo. Our bounties and tiers guide explains how to read every number.

How Hard Is It, Really?

Very. In normal mode, a skilled player reaches the 👑 King of the Pirates verdict roughly one run in 170. Under the ฿16B cap, even an optimal, bargain-hunting player lands it closer to one run in three thousand — around twenty times rarer. Most capped runs top out in the Paradise-to-New-World range; cracking Emperor-Class is a real achievement, and a capped King is the stuff of legend. If you've already conquered the standard game, this is your next mountain.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hard Mode in Grand Line Spin?
It's the same crew-drafting game with one big twist: your crew's combined bounty can't exceed a ฿16 billion cap. The strongest pirates cost billions, so you have to balance stars with bargains instead of just grabbing the biggest names.
How is each pirate's cost decided?
We use the character's canon bounty where one exists — which makes early-era versions (like pre-timeskip Straw Hats) wonderfully cheap. Fighters with no public bounty are priced fairly from their power, so no strong character is ever free.
Who are the best value picks?
Pre-timeskip and East-Blue Straw Hats are the headline bargains — high power for a tiny bounty. Rookies and early-arc versions of famous pirates are also efficient. Save the big spend for one marquee captain and a matching first mate.
What happens if I run out of budget?
If no affordable pirate fits an open role, you're cornered — you can set sail with the crew you have, but empty roles score nothing. The lesson: keep some budget in reserve for your specialists.
Is Hard Mode harder than reaching King of the Pirates normally?
Much harder — roughly twenty times rarer. The cap means you can't simply buy a crew of Emperors; a capped King of the Pirates is a genuine feat.
Is it free, and does it work on mobile?
Yes to both — no account, no download, built mobile-first. Prefer the standard game? Play Grand Line Crew or try Build the Pirate King.
